X-Clash Survival Challenge Guide – Complete Walkthrough & Rewards

The Survival Challenge is one of X-Clash's most rewarding game modes. Here's everything you need to dominate it.

What is Survival Challenge?

X-Clash: Survival Challenge is a core game mode where you face increasingly difficult waves of enemies. Unlike the main campaign where you can retry indefinitely, Survival Challenge has limited attempts and escalating difficulty. The further you progress, the better your rewards — making it one of the most efficient ways to earn rare heroes, equipment, and resources.

The mode resets periodically, giving all players a fresh start. This means even newer players can compete for top rankings if they have the right strategy.

How Survival Challenge Works

  • Wave-based combat – You face sequential waves of enemies. Each wave is harder than the last with stronger units and new mechanics
  • Limited attempts – You get a set number of attempts per reset period. Don't waste them on unprepared runs
  • Hero selection matters – You choose your team before entering. Once the challenge starts, you can't swap heroes mid-run
  • Buffs between waves – After each wave, you may get to choose from random buffs. Picking the right buffs is crucial for deep runs
  • Leaderboard rankings – Your highest wave reached determines your rank and reward tier

Best Heroes for Survival Challenge

Survival Challenge rewards heroes that can sustain through long fights. Unlike KvK where burst damage wins, here you need staying power:

  • Healers are essential – You can't replenish troops between waves. Healers keep your army alive for later rounds
  • AoE damage dealers – Waves come in large groups. Heroes with area damage clear waves faster and take less total damage
  • Tanks with self-healing – A tank that can heal itself reduces pressure on your main healer, letting them focus on the rest of the team
  • Buff/debuff heroes – Heroes that boost your team's stats or reduce enemy stats become more valuable the longer the fight goes

Wave Strategy Breakdown

Waves 1-10: Warm-up

These waves are easy and exist to get you into rhythm. Focus on taking minimal damage. Don't use any special abilities or active skills — save them for later waves where you'll actually need them.

Waves 11-20: Difficulty Ramp

Enemy stats start scaling noticeably. You'll see special enemy types with shields, healing, or AoE attacks. Prioritize killing healers first, then shielded units. Start using active skills strategically here.

Waves 21-30: The Wall

This is where most players hit their ceiling. Boss waves appear every 5 waves with massive HP pools and devastating abilities. Your healer needs to be keeping pace with incoming damage. If you're losing troops each wave, you won't survive much longer.

Waves 30+: Endgame

Deep runs require perfect buff selection, maxed heroes, and optimized team compositions. At this point, every decision matters. Focus on defensive buffs and sustain — raw damage becomes less important than survival.

Buff Selection Guide

Between waves, you're offered random buff selections. Here's how to prioritize:

  1. Healing/lifesteal buffs – Always top priority. These let you sustain indefinitely through later waves
  2. Damage reduction / defense buffs – Second priority. Taking less damage is equivalent to healing more
  3. AoE damage buffs – Third priority. Faster clears mean less total damage taken per wave
  4. Single-target damage buffs – Useful for boss waves but less impactful overall
  5. Speed buffs – Lowest priority unless you're running a specific speed-based team composition

Reward Tiers

Survival Challenge rewards scale with your performance. Higher waves mean better rewards:

  • Wave 1-10 – Basic resources (gold, food, wood)
  • Wave 11-20 – Speedups, hero EXP items, and gear materials
  • Wave 21-30 – Hero shards, rare equipment, diamonds
  • Wave 30+ – Legendary hero fragments, golden gear blueprints, massive diamond bonuses
  • Top rankings – Exclusive rewards, title badges, and server-wide bragging rights

Common Mistakes in Survival Challenge

  • Going all-DPS – Pure damage teams crumble around wave 15-20. You need at least one healer
  • Wasting attempts on unprepared runs – Don't "test" with your limited attempts. Plan your team and buffs beforehand
  • Ignoring buff selection – Randomly picking buffs can make or break a run. Always choose healing/defense first
  • Not upgrading heroes evenly – One maxed hero with four level-1 teammates won't clear wave 20. Spread your upgrades
  • Forgetting to claim rewards – Survival Challenge rewards expire. Make sure you collect them before the reset
